Quest for the Siberian Crane

  Last year I tried to find this most magnificent and famous bird of Iran but to no avail. Fereydoon Kenar wetland, where most of the time he foraging and resting there, has become a unique bird trap area which called "Damgah" in Iran and it's very difficult and even dangerous for birdwatching.
On February 1, finally I could see it. At first it wasn't present in the area where he usually foraging and I nearly gave up to find it but then he flew from nowhere and landed in front of us. What a beauty!

After the Siberian Crane we visited another famous Damgah in the region; the Ezbaran Damgah where they mostly using decoy ducks for trapping birds.

At the end we visited Sorkhrud Damgah where in a sunny day the Damavand mountain is visible.


Next day we visited the Miankaleh wetland. Just enjoyed birding without trying to take photos of birds. Alborz range in the south Gorgan Bay. An awful photo:
